What do you want from your photographer?

At the end of the day I’m here for you. I’m here to make images you’ll LOVE for the rest of your life. What are some things you should look for in a photographer?

  1. PROFESSIONALISM: You want someone you can rely on, especially after you’ve gone to all the effort to get your family dressed and looking your best. You want your photographer to be there, and be ready to go at the time of your photo shoot, but also afterwards. You want to see the images in a timely manner. I’ve had so many clients tell me horror stories of photographers who never delivered wedding images, or did so months later.

  2. ATTENTION TO DETAIL: During and after the photo shoot you are trusting your photographer to be paying attention to all of the details in lighting, backgrounds, crazy hair, clothing mishaps, or anything that would be problematic in the final photo. Editing takes a lot of patience and time. I spend FAR more time editing than I do with my camera.

  3. ARTISTIC FLARE: You could just ask a friend to take some pictures with your phone, but no, you want someone to make you look great, and make the images look beautiful. Be sure to check your photographer’s website to make sure you love their style of photographs. Don’t be afraid to ask to see sample galleries from a photo shoot. Ask your photographer to give you direction, and discuss anything you’re worried about before the session.

  4. THE EXPERIENCE: Let’s face it, women are usually the ones who want family photos done. It is extremely rare for men to lead the way to booking an appointment. Women want those images of their families looking happy and full of joy. Husbands begrudgingly come, but would choose not to if they could. If the experience is painful they will not return. I try so hard to keep my photo shoots quick and easy for my clients. I supply my clients with a helpful magazine with tips for how to prepare, what to bring, and what not to do. This helps the process be so much easier for clients. I love it when the dads leave saying it was fun. That is a success in my book. I also know those images will remind him of a wonderful day with his family. That’s what it is all about.

I really hope you choose me as your photographer, but if you live out of the area, there are so many amazing photographers out there working hard to provide their clients with the best images possible.
