Family

Beachtastic

These are some of my favorite families. Some of them are sending kids off on missions and college, and some are celebrating their child’s very first birthday. All of them are happy and wonderful, and they chose the beach as the location for their session so I could visit my favorite place to hang out. I love families.

Love is EVERYTHING

Many evenings of my life are spent meeting families for family photographs outdoors. I am addicted to magical light, and seeing my clients love each other through my lens. My dream is to create images that families will cherish forever and ever. I want them to look back on their family photos and see pure love. I want their thoughts and memories to go right back to that time in their lives, and to remember all the good stuff.

Families are the most important thing in our lives, no matter what stage of life you’re in, and no matter who you call your family. The Maddie Dawson quote I have on the landing page of my website is there for a reason. "Love really is the big deal everyone  makes it out to be,... It's EVERYTHING, love is. It runs the whole universe."

I hope you enjoy looking at these families who love each other wholeheartedly. I sure love them.

Forever and Ever

This is the second time I’ve photographed Sharon and Jerry. They live in Colorado and come out to California for vacation together. They have a large family of their own, but they schedule time together for just the two of them. I LOVE that they want images of just the two of them. This is what love looks like. Their love for each other is obvious in the way they look at each other, the way they talk to each other, and where their priorities are. They can be sweet and loving, but also playful. I have nothing but admiration for them.

Family Love

Several years ago, back when they only had two children I photographed this family when their dad, a military pilot returned home from deployment. We’ve kept in touch on social media, and I’ve watched their family grow. They recently moved across the country, but before they left that had one last photo session at the beach. I love them all, and I’m so excited to share them here. The beach is dreamy, and when you add families who are fun and love each other so much it’s a perfect combination.

Together

The day was incredibly windy and cold. It was only September, but for some reason there was a chill in the air, and the wind made it harder to bear. I knew the mom was feeling stress as she got all of her kids ready after school to make it in time for sunset at the beach. Pictures are very important to her, and she wanted the most beautiful pictures of her family as possible.

I left the beach thinking the session was a huge success. Yes it was windy, and yes it was chilly, but the kids were happy, and the parents played and showed their joy for their family just like I like it. At 3:00 in the morning I received an email from the mom saying how nervous she was about her hair being blown crazy by the wind in all of the pictures. She was sure none of them would be good. I could tell she was up late in the night riddled with those anxious, nervous feelings moms get. Don’t they seem to be so much worse in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping, and it’s dark and quiet?

The next day I reassured her that the session was a success, and that I was confident she would love the images. When she came in for her ordering session and saw her family she was teary eyed. She couldn’t believe how much she loved seeing her family together, and their wind blown hair didn’t even matter.

The images with the mom in them are my favorite from this session. I can feel the love she has for her family just by seeing the joy on her face. It makes me wish that I could show every mom out there how important, needed, loved, and BEAUTIFUL they are. Perfection isn’t real. No family is perfect, and the imperfect parts are what make us interesting. Real life is so much more beautiful.

2018 in Review

It is so fun to look back over the year as it comes to an end. 2018 was a record year for Julie Campbell Photography. It was my 11th year in business, and I feel so fortunate that my business has not only lasted this long, but grown each year. Here are the images from all of the sessions I’ve been given permission to share in 2018. I respect my client’s privacy, and many of them opt to keep their images private. Thank you to all of you who trust me to be your photographer. I am so grateful for you. Happy New Year! I hope I’ll see you again in 2019. Scroll down to see the images, or click play.
